The Bhilwara coal furnace case was shocking for the entire Rajasthan. On August 2 last year, after raping a minor girl in Kotri area of Shahpura district, she was burnt to death in a coal furnace. POCSO court in Bhilwara district of Rajasthan has given a big decision in the Kotri coal furnace case. While giving the verdict, the court sentenced both the accused Kallu and Kanha to death.
In the famous Bhilwara coal furnace case of the Kotri area in Rajasthan, POCSO Court-2 has sentenced death sentence to Kalu, son of Ranganath Kalbeliya and his brother Kananath, residents of Dooni (Deoli) Hall Taswariya. The court has considered this case as rare of the rare. Earlier, the court had declared both of them guilty in this heinous case. The court had convicted two real brothers after a trial of nine and a half months. Hearing on punishment was held under various sections including murder, gang rape, destruction of evidence, and POCSO Act.
Judge Anil Kumar Gupta of POCSO court number two has sentenced both the accused to death. Seven members of their family were acquitted due to lack of evidence. On the other hand, the government will appeal in the High Court against the acquittal of seven people.
What was the Bhilwara furnace case?
On August 2, 2023, a girl from the Kotri area went to the farm to graze goats. There Kalu and his brother Kana raped her. Afterwards, they hit her on the head with a stick and gagged her. Thinking her dead, she was picked up from the field and brought to the camp. After dark at night, the girl was burnt alive in a coal furnace.
Nine people were arrested in the case. Three child molesters were also arrested. Additionally, the police had presented the challan against the accused within a month. Several reports, including that of FSL, were presented as evidence.
The parents of the victim appealed to the judge
The family members of the victim girl were present in the court during the verdict. The victim’s mother and father started crying bitterly in the courtroom. They told the judge that this daughter was yours. Moreover, they appealed to the judge to sentence the culprits to death.
CM Bhajanlal Sharma and Former CM Ashok Gehlot welcomed the verdict
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has welcomed the court’s decision to award the death penalty to the culprits in the case of gang rape and murder of a minor in Kotri, Bhilwara. After the decision in this matter on Monday, Bhajanlal Sharma termed it as welcome and said that today during the successful tenure of the double-engine government of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), there is a policy of zero tolerance against crimes against girls in the state. He said that today there is no place for crime and criminals in Rajasthan and if anyone dares to commit a crime, he will not be spared at any cost.
Former Chief Minister of Rajasthan and veteran Congress leader Ashok Gehlot also said that the court’s decision to give the death penalty to the culprits in the case of rape and murder of a girl in Kotri is welcome. After this decision, Ashok Gehlot said through social media that at that time our government had taken action against the accused in this incident and arrested them immediately. Moreover, at that time ADG Crime was sent to the spot and the case was taken up under the Case Officer Scheme. Furthermore, the charge sheet of this case was filed within about a month. Today, within about 10 months, these culprits have been sentenced.
