  • Protein supplements for youth to stay fit are slow poison.

Protein supplements for youth to stay fit are slow poison.

Protein supplements are trending among the youth to enhance their physique and stay fit. Youth in the age group of 18 to 30 are consuming artificial protein supplements extensively as morning breakfast. The matter of concern is that about 80% of people do not even consult any healthcare expert before consuming them. Moreover, It is also easily available to people sitting at home.

After the Covid-19 pandemic, the demand for protein supplements in India is estimated to increase by about 30%. It is noteworthy that because of the side effects of long-term use 156 combination medicines are banned. The Central Government has recently banned the sale and use of these medicines on the recommendation of its expert committee.

    Know the banned combination medicines

Artificial protein supplements are food formulas to get fit quickly. People do not know that it is harmful to the major organs of the body. This has fatal effects on the kidneys, liver and joints. Know the side effects of these supplements.

How protein supplements are slow poison

Artificial protein supplements, such as whey protein, soy protein isolate, or plant-based protein powders, can be beneficial for muscle recovery and growth. However, they can also have side effects, especially when consumed in excess or by individuals with sensitivities. Due to their continuous consumption, there is a possibility of severe damage to the kidneys and liver and serious diseases like hormonal imbalance, metabolic disorder, anxiety and uric acid. Some common side effects include:

1 Digestive Issues with protein supplements:

Bloating and Gas: Artificial protein powders, particularly those containing additives or lactose (such as whey), can lead to bloating and gas.

Diarrhoea or Constipation: Some individuals may experience changes in bowel movements. Especially if they are not used to high protein intake or the fibre content in plant-based powders.

    2 Kidney Strain:

Excessive protein intake can put a strain on the kidneys. Especially in individuals with pre-existing kidney conditions. This could potentially lead to kidney damage over time.

    3 Dehydration:

High protein intake requires more water for metabolism and excretion. Thus protein supplements increase the risk of dehydration if water intake isn’t adequately increased.

4 Allergic Reactions due to protein supplements:

Some individuals may be allergic to certain protein sources (e.g., soy, dairy). Symptoms might include hives, swelling, or difficulty breathing.

    5 Nutrient Imbalance:

Relying heavily on protein supplements might reduce the intake of other essential nutrients found in whole foods. Thus it potentially leads to an imbalance in the diet.

    6 Liver Damage (Rare):

Very high protein intake over a long period, especially without medical supervision, can lead to liver damage. Although this is more commonly seen with pre-existing liver conditions.

    7 Artificial Sweeteners:

Many protein powders contain artificial sweeteners. This can cause digestive discomfort or negatively impact gut health in some individuals.

    8 Heavy Metals:

Some studies have found traces of heavy metals (e.g., lead, arsenic) in certain protein powders. Consistent consumption over time could lead to harmful exposure.

9 Hormonal Imbalance due to protein supplements:

Some protein supplements, particularly soy-based ones, may contain phytoestrogens. This can potentially disrupt hormone levels in some individuals.

    10 Weight Gain:

Excessive intake of protein supplements can lead to weight gain. If the additional calories are not accounted for, especially if physical activity levels remain the same.

To minimize risks, it’s important to choose natural protein food or high-quality supplements. Moreover, consult a healthcare professional before introducing protein supplements into your routine.

    Work at ease

Things to Consider When Choosing Protein Supplements:

    • Ingredients: Look for products with minimal additives, artificial sweeteners, or preservatives.
    • Allergies: Be aware of any personal food sensitivities or allergies (e.g., lactose intolerance, gluten sensitivity).
    • Dietary Preferences: Choose a supplement that aligns with your dietary habits (e.g., vegan, keto, etc.).
    • Purpose: Consider whether you need a fast-absorbing protein (whey) for post-workout or a slow-digesting one (casein) for overnight recovery.

High-quality, clean-label protein supplements with minimal additives and unnecessary fillers are generally the best for health. Always check for certifications like non-GMO, organic, or third-party testing to ensure purity and quality.

    Natural protein sources

Natural protein sources are whole foods rich in protein and other essential nutrients. They are often preferred over artificial protein supplements due to their balanced nutritional content. • Combination Medicine banned in India

    Combination Medicine banned in India

Combination medicine combines two or more salts into single-dose tablets or capsules. They are also called as fixed-dose combination drugs. Now the government has taken steps to ban combination medicine. Furthermore, the Government of India has banned 156 medicines. These include especially skin care, pain relievers, multivitamins and other medicines.

Generally, these medicines are found in homes. According to the government notification, these medicines can threaten humans. Safer alternatives are available, hence a ban on their production, sale, distribution and use is necessary. Furthermore, the committee of experts formed by the government found these medicines unsuitable. The Drugs Technical Advisory Board also stated that there is no medical justification for combining these medicines after testing the combination medicine.

    Why combination medicine is harmful

Combination medicine, which contains two or more active ingredients in a single dosage form, can be harmful in certain circumstances due to several factors:

    1. Increased Risk of Side Effects: Since combination medicines contain multiple active ingredients, the risk of side effects or adverse reactions may increase. If a person is sensitive to one component, they may still experience unwanted effects even if the other component is necessary.
    2. Difficulty in Adjusting Dosages: With combination medicines, it can be difficult to tailor the dosage of each active ingredient to meet individual patient needs. If a patient requires a higher or lower dose of one component, they may end up taking too much or too little of the other, leading to inefficacy or toxicity.
    3. Drug Interactions: The combination of different drugs can lead to unintended interactions between the ingredients themselves or with other medications the patient is taking. Moreover, this can enhance toxicity, reduce efficacy, or cause unpredictable reactions.
    4. Allergic Reactions: If a person is allergic to one of the components, they might still be exposed to it, even though they need the other component of the medication. This can lead to allergic reactions, which could be severe.
    5. Masking of Symptoms: Combination drugs may mask certain symptoms, which could delay diagnosis or proper treatment. For example, a combination drug for pain and inflammation might reduce pain but also hide an underlying condition that needs medical attention.

    Another reason for the ban

Overuse or Misuse: People might unintentionally overdose on one of the components of a combination drug if they are also taking another medication that contains the same ingredient. For example, taking a cold medicine and a painkiller that both contain acetaminophen could lead to an overdose of acetaminophen.

While combination medicines can be convenient and effective when prescribed properly, they do come with risks that need to be carefully considered by healthcare providers.

Pharmaceutical company’s reaction to the ban

Although pharmaceutical companies have already stopped producing some of the drugs included in the banned list. The pharmaceutical industry is currently analyzing what will be the economic impact of the ban. Moreover, companies like Cipla, Torrent, Sun Pharma, IPCA Lab and Lupine say this will affect their products.

The government had announced a ban on the manufacture, sale and distribution of 344 FDCs in 2016. As a result, the pharmaceutical companies in the court challenged this decision. However, 14 combination medicines were already banned in June 2023. Now the government has banned 153 medicines.

    Combination medicine banned list

The drugs banned include the combination of the antibiotic azithromycin with adapalene, which is used to treat acne. At the same time, Aceclofenac 50mg Paracetamol 125 mg tablets have been banned. Above all, it is one of the popular combinations of pain relief medicines manufactured by top pharma companies. Furthermore, other drugs including combinations of paracetamol, tramadol, taurine and caffeine are banned. Here is the combination medicine banned list.

    Terrorists caught in Rajasthan

Terrorists inspired by Al-Qaeda have been caught in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan by the Special Cell of Delhi Police and Bhiwadi Police. The joint team has arrested six terrorists from the Sarekalan village of Chaupanki police station area.

The arrested terrorists are not local. They were being brought here from other states of the country and given training in using arms and ammunition. The forest of Sareklan village was being used as a terrorist training centre. The news of a terrorist training centre running in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan created a sensation. A large quantity of weapons and other explosive materials have been recovered from the terrorists.

    Bhiwadi seemed suitable for terrorists

The forests of Sarekalan village were considered suitable for terrorist training. This village is the last village situated on Ajmeri Naka of Rajasthan. The border of Haryana starts from here. Besides, there are inaccessible forests and hilly areas all around. Here there is no movement of common people and security forces coming from outside.

In the past too, there have been cases of bike theft and cow slaughter from here. Here, criminals escape by taking advantage of the borders of two states, but this time the matter is very big and serious.

There is a possibility of collusion at the local level in this matter also. Nearby villagers go to the forest to graze their animals. Hence the possibility is that everyone is aware if someone suspicious comes from outside in a rural area. How can the local people remain unaware of the firing that takes place during weapons training? At the same time, it is difficult to operate such a big centre of terrorism without local cooperation. In this way, the police are trying to connect to the local network.

    Inspired by Al Queda terrorists

The intentions of the terrorist module inspired by the dreaded terrorist organization Al Qaeda, which was exposed by the Special Cell of Delhi Police, were very heart-wrenching. Most of the youth of this module were planning to go to Al Qaeda camps in Pakistan, Afghanistan and other countries for dangerous terrorist training.

According to Delhi Police officials, initial investigation has revealed that there are 25 to 30 youths in this module and all the youths have taken training in terrorist activities here. Some alleged terrorists of this module have done reiki in Delhi. So far 14 suspects have been detained. Eight terrorists were caught in Rajasthan and six from Jharkhand. According to the officers, there is every possibility that some more youth in the module will be caught soon.

Head of terrorists caught in Jharkhand

Raids have also been conducted in UP and Jharkhand to catch terrorists. 130 to 150 police officers and soldiers of the special cell were engaged in raids across the country till late Monday night. They caught Ishtiaq who is a doctor by profession. He is a famous radiologist from Ranchi. Moreover, he is the kingpin of this terrorist module.

    Terrorists head Dr Ishtiaq Ali

It is being told that module leader Dr Ishtiaq was influenced by Al Qaeda for a long time. He was in contact with some bosses of Al Qaeda. It is being told that a few years ago he had come in contact with an Al Qaeda terrorist. After this, he started on the path of terrorism. Furthermore, his objective was to mislead as many youths as possible into terrorists so that they could destroy on a large scale in the country.

Ishtiaq also ran a madrasa in Ranchi. In this Madrasa, he was also engaged in misleading the youth and diverting them to the path of terrorism. The doctor misled the youth in the Madrasa in the name of religion and he set up a module by pushing the youths on the path of terrorism. 25 to 30 youths have been identified in this entire module. However, the identity of the captured terrorists has been hidden.

Most of the youth arrested/detained and associated with this entire terrorist module linked to Al Qaeda are residents of Ranchi. Due to this, the module quickly came in contact with the kingpin. None of the arrested accused youths are highly educated. Some of them run a shop and some do small jobs.

    IG took a meeting

The Special Cell of Delhi Police seized the captured terrorists, weapons and other important materials and took them with them. Information regarding how long the training centre was running in the area is unavailable. Since the matter is related to terrorism, even senior police officials are avoiding telling much about the said module.

After such a big module of terrorism was caught in the area, IG Anil Kumar Tank took a meeting. Took information about this from SP Jyestha Maitreyi and other senior officials. Instructed to strengthen the security arrangements in the area and keep an eye on suspicious activities.

The organizations say that they have been demanding classification in reservation for a long time, which is being called ‘quota within quota’.

These organizations have submitted a memorandum to the Government of India through the Collector, demanding immediate implementation of ‘quota in quota’ reservations. Professor Kamalkant Katara said that some communities including Bhils in Rajasthan have been raising their demand for a long time. But till now no concrete action has been taken on it. Moreover, Katara described this bandh as against the Constitution of India and social justice. Furthermore, he said that the majority of Dalit castes are still away from the mainstream and they are also demanding ‘quota within quota’ reservations. Bharat Bandh Today: Impact in Rajasthan

Bharat Bandh has been declared to protest the Supreme Court’s decision on the classification of reservations. Moreover, the Supreme Court said that a few castes come under SC but people of this caste remain more backward than the rest. In such a situation, classification can be done for their upliftment. So that the share can be determined correctly. Additionally, the Supreme Court had said in the hearing of the petitions that only a few castes have got the benefit of reservation. Quotas can be introduced to bring other castes included in the mainstream. Having said this, the Supreme Court overturned its 2004 decision.
