Radhakrishnan was born on May 4, 1957, in Tiruppur, Tamil Nadu. He began his political journey as a volunteer with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in the early 1970s. By 1974, he had secured a position on the State Executive Committee of the Jana Sangh in Tamil Nadu. Later, when the BJP was formed in 1980, he transitioned into the party, serving as its Secretary for Tamil Nadu in 1996.

1998: Elected to the Lok Sabha from Coimbatore with a commanding margin of over 150,000 votes—a milestone victory post the Coimbatore bombings.
