Election Commission announced the polling dates for 5 states

Today on the 9th of Oct 2023 election commission announced the polling dates for 5 states – Manipur, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Telangana

The poll schedule will be as follows

Polling will start on the 7th of Nov 2023 in Manipur and Chhattisgarh and will end on the 30th of Nov 2023 in Telangana. Results will be declared for all five states on the 3rd of Dec 2023.

The election will be held in a single phase in Manipur, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Telangana while In Chhattisgarh it will be conducted in two phases on the 7th and 17th of Nov 2023.

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said that the Election Commission will ensure a free, fair and inducement-free election in five states.

First-time voters

Within five states, there exists a demographic of roughly 6 million individuals who are first-time voters between the ages of 18 and 19.

CEC Rajiv Kumar said that to inspire young voters 2900 pooling stations will be managed by youth. Total number of polling stations will be 1.77 lakhs.

Assembly Term

Furthermore, the term of the legislative assembly of Manipur will end on the 17th of Dec 2023.

The term of the legislative assembly of Chhattisgarh, Madya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Telangana will end on the 3rd, 6th, 14th and 16th of Jan 2024 respectively.

Hence Election Commission Announced the polling dates for 5 states before the end of the legislative assemblies.
