A sinkhole became a picnic spot

Sinkhole

A sinkhole was formed last Monday in Sahagrasar village of Lunkaransar tehsil due to sudden ground subsidence. Now this sinkhole has become a picnic spot. People are not serious about the sinkhole and are risking their lives by entering the pit.

It is noteworthy that on the night of 15th April, on the road leading from Dhani Bhopalaram to Sahajarasar village, the ground suddenly caved in in a field in Rohi near Sahajarasar village. Due to ground subsidence, a crater 150 to 200 feet wide and 70-80 feet deep was formed. Now, after five days, the sinkhole’s depth and width have also increased significantly. Also, huge cracks have formed in the surrounding areas including the road. This has created a situation of curiosity in the surrounding area.

Scientists from the Mines and Geology Department reached the spot and investigated the pit formed due to land subsidence, but no conclusion was reached. Scientists had suggested an investigation from GCI scientists. The subdivision administration also wrote to the District Collector regarding this, but no investigation has been done yet.
