    Indian Railways Witnessing Mega Transformation

    Indian Railways 2000 projects were inaugurated in a single day, marking a significant transformation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi today gifted development works worth Rs 41,000 crore to the countrymen. PM Modi laid the foundation stone and inaugurated redevelopment projects of 554 railway stations and 1500 railway flyovers and underpasses across the country.

    On this occasion, PM Modi said that Railways is going through a phase of change today. India has now stopped dreaming small dreams and today India dreams big dreams. Developed India is the India of dreams of the youth. Railways in India are progressing at a fast pace. We have rejuvenated the railway stations. Indian Railways has been a victim of politics for decades. No one had ever thought of semi-high-speed trains. But, we have done it.

    Highlights

    On February 26, 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for over 2,000 railway infrastructure projects worth over Rs 41,000 crore. Here are some highlights:

    • Redevelopment of stations: The cornerstone of the projects was the launch of the “Amrit Bharat Station Scheme,” which aims to redevelop 553 railway stations across India at a cost of over Rs 19,000 crore. These redeveloped stations will offer modern amenities and improved passenger experience.
    • Improved connectivity: The initiative also included the foundation stone laying ceremony for 1,500 Road Under Bridges (RUBs) and Road Over Bridges (ROBs) across the country. This will enhance connectivity and reduce traffic congestion at level crossings.
    • Overall infrastructure boost: The projects encompass various aspects of railway infrastructure, aiming to improve safety, efficiency, and passenger experience.

    Indian Railways projects in Rajasthan

    Out of these projects, there are 21 railway stations in Rajasthan. Furthermore, these 21 railway stations of Rajasthan are included in the rejuvenation of railway stations taking place under Amrit Bharat Yojana. These include Ajmer Junction, Pali Marwar, Sanganer, Beawar, Fatehnagar, Jawai Dam, Rani, Somesar, Gogamedi, Raisinghnagar, Dausa, Fatehpur Shekhawati, Khairthal, Neem Ka Thana, Rajgarh, Deeg, Dholpur, Govindgarh, Khedli, Bundi and Jhalawar City. PM Modi today dedicated these railway stations to the public after their makeover.

    Apart from this, PM Modi inaugurated 112 underpasses and overbridges of the state. Let us tell you that a few days ago also, PM Modi had laid the foundation stone of projects worth more than Rs 17 thousand crore for Rajasthan.

    6 Railways projects approved by Cabinet. 3 are for Rajasthan

    6 multi-tracking Indian Railways projects were approved by the cabinet yesterday on the 8th of February 2024. Out of these 6 railway projects, 3 will be beneficial for Rajasthan.

    The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, approved six projects of the Ministry of Railways with a total estimated cost of approximately Rs. 12,343 crore. The projects are to be funded 100% by the Central Government. The purpose of multi-tracking is to reduce congestion and improve infrastructure development on the busiest sections of Indian Railways.

    The projects align with the vision of Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modiji for a New India. The vision is to empower the people of the region to become “Atmanirbhar” through comprehensive development. Furthermore, this will enhance their employment and self-employment opportunities.

    Six projects are underway, covering 18 districts across six states in India. These states are Rajasthan, Assam, Telangana, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, and Nagaland. These projects will increase the existing Indian Railways network by 1020 kilometres. Moreover, it will provide employment opportunities to approximately three crore people across these states.

    The PM-Gati Shakti National Master Plan has led to these projects. This will result in multi-model connectivity that seamlessly moves people, goods, and services through integrated planning.

Furthermore, by increasing the capacity of these routes, an additional 87 million tonnes of freight can be transported per year. Additionally, Railways are an eco-friendly and energy-efficient mode of transportation. Moreover, it can help achieve climate goals, minimize logistics costs, reduce oil imports, and lower CO2 emissions.
