These trains are scheduled to run on popular routes where there is a significant rise in passenger traffic due to vacations, festivals, or other seasonal activities. The primary aim is to ease the congestion on regular train services and provide additional travel options for passengers.
Here are some key features of summer special trains:
- Temporary Schedule: These trains usually run for a limited period. Often from May to June or July, coinciding with school and college holidays.
- Popular Routes: They typically cover routes in high demand during the summer. Such as tourist destinations, pilgrim sites, and major cities.
- Advance Booking: Tickets for summer special trains are made available for booking to help passengers plan their trips accordingly.
- Extra Coaches: These trains may have extra coaches to accommodate more passengers.
- Reservation and Unreserved Coaches: These trains might include both reserved and unreserved coaches depending on the demand.
- Fare Structure: The fare for summer special trains might be slightly higher or follow a different fare structure compared to regular trains.
