PNG Connections

PNG connections will soon reach 70,000 gas consumers in Kota

PNG connections are set to transform the kitchens of Kota very soon. According to recent reports, the local gas distribution network is expanding rapidly to reach 70,000 consumers. This massive project aims to provide a continuous and safer energy supply to households across the city. By increasing the number of PNG connections, the government is making daily life more convenient for thousands of families. This shift toward piped gas also helps the city move closer to a cleaner and more sustainable environment.

Nearly 70,000 families in the city will benefit from the new domestic pipeline gas (DPNG) infrastructure developed by Rajasthan State Gas Limited (RSGL), freeing them from the inconvenience of LPG cylinders. The administration has ordered that connections be prioritised in areas where the facility is ready. Kota Collector Piyush Samaria stated in a meeting with RSGL officials that DPNG connections should be expedited in colonies with established pipeline networks. The government plans to transition these areas into LPG-free zones. Thus, ensuring that residents have access to affordable, safe gas services around the clock.

The Collector directed RSGL to organise awareness camps in the colonies to tell people about the benefits of PNG connections. Moreover, he instructed RSGL to connect more and more consumers to it. Besides, they have also been asked to prepare an action plan for the expansion of DPNG connections in industrial areas, commercial establishments, dhabas, hostels and restaurants.

PNG is cheaper than a gas cylinder

During the meeting, RSGL Managing Director Vinay Patni said that a pipeline network has been prepared to connect about 70 thousand houses in Kota city. He urged people to reduce their dependence on LPG cylinders and adopt pipeline gas. LPG is not only affordable but also safe and continuously available. Therefore, it eliminates the hassle of running out of gas or booking cylinders.

Apart from this, work is also going on to expand CNG stations in the city. Thus, it will promote clean and green energy. RSGL Deputy General Manager CP Chaudhary, Vivek Ranjan and Vivek Srivastava, along with other officials, were also present in this meeting. Officials believe that this initiative will not only provide relief to the common people but will also reduce pollution in the city and promote clean energy options.

Understanding PNG Connections: What is it?

PNG connections stand for Piped Natural Gas, which is a modern way to receive cooking fuel. Unlike traditional cylinders, this gas travels directly to your kitchen through an underground pipeline. It is primarily composed of methane and is lighter than air. Because it is delivered through pipes, you never have to worry about the gas running out in the middle of cooking. PNG connections are widely considered safer because the gas dissipates quickly into the atmosphere in case of a minor leak.

Can I Have Both LPG and PNG Connections?

PNG connections come with specific rules regarding the use of traditional LPG cylinders. Under the latest government regulations in 2026, a household cannot keep both types of connections at the same time. This policy ensures that LPG cylinders are available for families who do not yet have access to pipelines. If you get one of the new PNG connections, you must surrender your LPG cylinder to your distributor. Keeping both is actually a violation of the current law, so it is best to shift completely to the piped system.

The Impact of PNG on Kota’s Future

PNG connections expansion is a major step for Kota’s urban development. These connections offer a “pay-as-you-use” system, meaning you only pay for the exact amount of gas you consume. Furthermore, PNG connections eliminate the need for booking cylinders or waiting for delivery trucks. This improvement not only saves you time but also reduces traffic and pollution on the city’s roads.
