Government meeting with tech companies concludes new rules will be made soon against Deepfake. Social media platforms and other tech companies have said that deepfakes are something that is really harmful to society. Today, drafting to regulate it will be started. After the meeting with social media companies on the issue of Deepfake, Union Communications, Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has said that we all have agreed that we will soon come up with a clear and actionable law against Deepfake. All tech companies have said that deepfakes cannot be kept under free speech.

The minister said that deepfakes have emerged as a new threat to democracy. Vaishnav said, “Our next meeting will be held in the first week of December which will be based on today’s decisions. The next meeting will decide what should be included in the rules regulating deepfakes.
