Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Elections announced

Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections were announced by the Election Commission of India during a press conference. Elections will be held for the first time after the removal of Article 370. Jammu and Kashmir is now a Union Territory and the first assembly elections will be held here after the abolition of Article 370. Assembly elections are to be held in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, where the deadline given by the Supreme Court for holding elections is ending on September 30. Last December, the Supreme Court had directed the Election Commission to conduct assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir by September 30.

After 10 years, elections have finally been announced in the paradise of the world. Jammu and Kashmir will get its elected government on 4th October. The results will be announced after the assembly elections on this day. After this, it will be decided whose government will be formed. However, many changes occurred in Jammu and Kashmir in these ten years.

Schedule of Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections

Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections will be held in three phases. The first phase of elections will be held on the 18th of September 2024. Furthermore, the second phase of elections will be held on the 25th of September. The final and the last third phase will be held on the 1st of October 2024. Moreover, the counting of votes will be on the 4th of October 2024. Hence the path to forming a new Jammu and Kashmir assembly will be opened after the 4th of October.

Jammu and Kashmir assembly seats

After the delimitation held last year in Jammu and Kashmir, there are now 90 assembly seats. For the first time, 9 seats have been reserved for ST. Apart from this, seats have also been reserved for Scheduled Castes. There were 107 seats in the state Assembly which has now increased to 114. After delimitation, maximum seats have increased in Jammu.

Under the new delimitation, earlier there were 37 seats in Jammu and now there are 43 assembly seats. There were 46 seats in Kashmir, now this number has increased to 47. Earlier there were two nominated members in the Assembly, now this number will be 5. Two seats have also been reserved for displaced Kashmiri Hindus.

Seats reserved for POK

Pakistan occupied some areas of Jammu and Kashmir right after independence. After this, it remains Pakistan’s possession. In 1956, when a separate constitution of Jammu and Kashmir was made, 24 seats of POK were earmarked in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly. It is believed that one day POK will come out of Pakistan and join India. On 22 February 1994, Parliament unanimously passed a historic resolution demanding that Pakistan vacate the areas of the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir which it had occupied through invasion.

Hence in this election also, 24 seats will remain reserved for Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir. This area of Jammu and Kashmir is currently under Pakistani occupation. That is why it is called POK.

Haryana assembly election announcement

The tenure of Haryana Assembly is going to end on November 3. The state elections have to be conducted even before this. Hence, the Election Commission of India has announced the assembly election date. The Election Commission announced the election date in Haryana along with the Jammu Kashmir assembly. Voting will take place in Haryana in a single phase on October 1. Counting of votes for both the assemblies will take place on October 4.

Earlier news was coming that the Commission will also announce the schedule of Maharashtra Assembly elections. But did not announce the dates of the Maharashtra Assembly elections. Since 2009, assembly elections in both the states of Maharashtra and Haryana have been held simultaneously thrice. However, this time the assembly elections of both the states are being held separately. It is noteworthy that the tenure of Maharashtra Assembly is going to end on 26th November. The tenure of the Haryana Assembly is till November 3.

A drop of blood helped to get justice

A drop of blood helped the police to find out the murderers. A sessions court in Mumbai in Maharashtra on Tuesday sentenced two associates, Siddhesh Shantaram Tamhankar and Khushi Sajwani, to life imprisonment in the murder of Kirti Vyas. The special thing is that in this case the body of the deceased woman Kirti has not been found to date. Above all, the police had solved the murder with just a single drop of blood.

Siddhesh and Khushi Sajwani made a plan to kill

Kirti Vyas and both the accused worked in a salon named BBlunt. Kirti Vyas was the finance manager of the Andheri office of BBlunt. Ashoke Bhabani and Adhuna Bhabani are the founders of BBlunt. Moreover, Adhuna Bhabani is the estranged wife of film actor Farhan Akhtar. Furthermore, BBlunt has been part of the Bollywood journey for over a decade, setting trends for many Bollywood celebrities and fashionistas.

It is said that Siddhesh Tamhankar was not working properly, so Kirti had given one month’s notice to remove him. Angered by this, Siddhesh and Khushi made a plan to kill Kirti. Khushi Sajwani is Siddhesh’s girlfriend.

On March 16, 2018, Kirti went missing, and her family filed a complaint. Kirti Vyas a resident of Grant Road, left home for work and did not reach the office. Also, her sister Shefali reported that both her phones were switched off. During this time, to avoid suspicion, the accused Siddhesh and Khushi Sajwani also pretended to search for her. Afterwards, police learned from CCTV that Siddhesh was standing near Kirti’s house on the day she went missing.

Revealed by a drop of blood

Four months after the incident, the police found a drop of blood from the trunk of Khushi’s car. When its DNA was tested, it matched the DNA of Kirti’s parents. After that, the police arrested Siddesh and his girlfriend on charges of murder. Police said that Siddhesh and Khushi Sajwani had kidnapped Kirti, strangled her to death in the car and thrown the body in the creek of Wadala. Even though the body has not been found to date a drop of blood helped to get justice to Kirti.

Sadanand Vasant Date will be the new NIA Chief

Sadanand Vasant Date is remembered for his bravery during the 26/11 attacks. He fought with Ajmal Kasab and his Lashkar-e-Taiba associate Abu Ismail, injuring him and restraining him until he fell unconscious.

Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) chief Sadanand Vasant Date has been appointed Director General of the National Investigation Agency (NIA). His tenure will last till his superannuation on December 31, 2026. He will replace Dinkar Gupta, who is scheduled to retire on March 31.

Sadanand Vasant Date is an IPS officer of the Maharashtra cadre of the 1990 batch. It was because of his intelligence and bravery that Kasab was caught alive. After 16 years, he is appointed as the National Investigation Agency (NIA) chief on Wednesday. This agency came into existence after the three-day-long planned terrorist attack on Mumbai.

Role of Sadanand Vasant Date during the terrorist attack on Mumbai on 26/11

On that fateful night of November 26, 2008, Date, the then Additional Commissioner of Police, Central Zone, received a call that terrorists were firing indiscriminately near Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST). 10 terrorists had entered Mumbai in a boat and spread across the city. This attack resulted in 18 brave sacrifices including senior Mumbai Police IPS officers Hemant Karkare and Ashok Kamte.

By the time Date and his team reached CST, both terrorists Kasab and Ismail had left the place and had taken over the rooftop of the nearby Cama Hospital. The team followed them till there. They knew that two people were there, but they had no information about the arms and ammunition present with the terrorists.

However, the team led by Sadanand Vasant Date decided to take on both of them. The team’s quick response and decisive actions played a vital role in keeping the patients at the hospital, including a large number of women and children, safe. Despite being badly injured, he continued firing on the two terrorists besides informing other senior officers about their location.

Rahul Gandhi will start the Bharat Nyay Yatra. Why?

Rahul Gandhi will travel more than 6,200 kilometres by bus and on foot during the Bharat Nyay Yatra. Before the 2024 general elections, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi is going to start the Bharat Nyay Yatra. This yatra will start from Manipur on 14th January and end in Mumbai on 20th March.

The reason for selecting 14 states

It seems that the total number of the Lok Sabha seats is the main reason for selecting these 14 states. All in all total of 355 Lok Sabha seats will be covered during this yatra.

Manipur-2, Nagaland-1, Assam-14, Meghalaya-2, West Bengal-42, Bihar-40, Jharkhand-14, Odisha-21, Chhattisgarh-11, Uttar Pradesh-80, Madhya Pradesh-29, Rajasthan-25, Gujrat-26 and Maharastra-48.
