Bharat Bandh Today: Impact in Rajasthan

Bharat Bandh has been declared to protest the Supreme Court’s decision on the classification of reservations. Who declared Bharat Bandh?

Bharat Bandh was called on social media on August 21 in protest against the decision given by the Supreme Court regarding the classification of reservation of SC and ST. Aarakshan Bachao Sangharsh Samiti announced a Bandh on August 21 in protest against the Supreme Court decision on the SC/ST reservation quota within the SC-ST quota. All the organizations calling for Bharat Bandh say that the Supreme Court should reconsider its decision.

While announcing the bandh, these organizations have said that even today they are lagging and they are not being given the benefit of reservation in private institutions. Today, District Collectors have declared a holiday in schools and colleges in most of the districts of Rajasthan. At the same time, the internet is closed in many districts. Who is Upendra Kushwaha

Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Elections announced

Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections were announced by the Election Commission of India during a press conference. Elections will be held for the first time after the removal of Article 370. Jammu and Kashmir is now a Union Territory and the first assembly elections will be held here after the abolition of Article 370. Assembly elections are to be held in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, where the deadline given by the Supreme Court for holding elections is ending on September 30. After 10 years, elections have finally been announced in the paradise of the world. Jammu and Kashmir will get its elected government on 4th October. The results will be announced after the assembly elections on this day. After this, it will be decided whose government will be formed. However, many changes occurred in Jammu and Kashmir in these ten years.

Schedule of Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections

Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections will be held in three phases. The first phase of elections will be held on the 18th of September 2024. Furthermore, the second phase of elections will be held on the 25th of September. The final and the last third phase will be held on the 1st of October 2024. Moreover, the counting of votes will be on the 4th of October 2024. Hence the path to forming a new Jammu and Kashmir assembly will be opened after the 4th of October.

Apart from this, seats have also been reserved for Scheduled Castes. There were 107 seats in the state Assembly which has now increased to 114. After delimitation, maximum seats have increased in Jammu.

Under the new delimitation, earlier there were 37 seats in Jammu and now there are 43 assembly seats. There were 46 seats in Kashmir, now this number has increased to 47. Earlier there were two nominated members in the Assembly, now this number will be 5. Two seats have also been reserved for displaced Kashmiri Hindus.

Seats reserved for POK

Pakistan occupied some areas of Jammu and Kashmir right after independence. After this, it remains Pakistan’s possession. In 1956, when a separate constitution of Jammu and Kashmir was made, 24 seats of POK were earmarked in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly. It is believed that one day POK will come out of Pakistan and join India. On 22 February 1994, Parliament unanimously passed a historic resolution demanding that Pakistan vacate the areas of the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir which it had occupied through invasion.

Hence in this election also, 24 seats will remain reserved for Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir. This area of Jammu and Kashmir is currently under Pakistani occupation. That is why it is called POK.

Haryana assembly election announcement

The tenure of Haryana Assembly is going to end on November 3. The state elections have to be conducted even before this. Hence, the Election Commission of India has announced the assembly election date. The Election Commission announced the election date in Haryana along with the Jammu Kashmir assembly. Voting will take place in Haryana in a single phase on October 1. Counting of votes for both the assemblies will take place on October 4.

Earlier news was coming that the Commission will also announce the schedule of Maharashtra Assembly elections. But did not announce the dates of the Maharashtra Assembly elections. Since 2009, assembly elections in both the states of Maharashtra and Haryana have been held simultaneously thrice. According to sources, this Indigenous man-portable anti-tank guided missile is equipped with a tandem high explosive anti-tank weapon. Cold storage warehouses will be set up for perishable crops

Cold storage warehouses will be set up for perishable crops throughout India with the central government’s financial assistance. Perishable crops are agricultural products that have a limited shelf life and can spoil if not preserved properly. They are also known as fresh foods or foods that need to be kept cold and stored right away. Perishable crops include fruits, vegetables, and other fresh produce that are highly perishable due to their moisture content and susceptibility to microbial growth.

Examples of perishable crops include Tomatoes, Peppers, Bananas, Leafy vegetables, Potatoes, Yams, Carrots, and Onions.

Schemes for cold storage warehouses

The government is implementing various schemes for setting up cold storage warehouses.

Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare is implementing the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH). Moreover, financial assistance is provided for various horticulture activities. The construction, expansion, and modernization of cold storage facilities with a capacity of up to 5000 MT in the country will be carried out based on the Annual Action Plan (AAP) received from States/UTs. Furthermore, AAPs are prepared by the States/UTs based on their requirement, capacity and availability of resources.

The component of Cold Storage warehouses is demand/entrepreneur-driven. The government will assist in the form of a credit-linked back-ended subsidy. Furthermore, the subsidy is available at the rate of 35% of the project cost in general areas and 50% of the project cost in hilly and scheduled areas.

Who are eligible

Assistance is available to individuals, groups of farmers/growers/consumers, partnerships/proprietary firms, SHGs, FPOs, companies, corporations, cooperatives, marketing federations, local bodies, APMCs, and state governments.

Capital investment scheme for cold storage warehouses

Moreover, the National Horticulture Board (NHB) is implementing a scheme called the Capital Investment Subsidy. It is for the Construction, Expansion or Modernization of Cold Storage and Storage for Horticulture Products.

Under this scheme, credit-linked back-ended subsidy is provided at the rate of 35% of the capital cost of the project in general areas, and 50% in the case of North East, hilly & scheduled areas. It is possible to apply for funding for the construction, expansion, or modernization of cold storage and Controlled Atmosphere (CA) storage with a capacity of over 5000 MT and up to 10000 MT. In the North East region, units exceeding 1000 MT in capacity are also eligible for assistance.

MoFPI scheme

The Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) implements a Scheme for Integrated Cold Chain, Food Processing and Preservation Infrastructure as one of the components of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana (PMKSY).

It intends to reduce post-harvest losses of horticulture and non-horticulture produce. Moreover, it provides remunerative prices to farmers for their produce.

Under this program, the Ministry offers financial assistance in the form of a 35% grant-in-aid for general areas and 50% for North East and Himalayan States, ITDP areas, and Islands. This scheme is for storage and transport infrastructure. The value addition and processing infrastructure rates are 50% and 75%, respectively. A maximum grant-in-aid is Rs. 10.00 crore per project. It is for setting up integrated cold chain projects including irradiation facility. Standalone cold storages are not covered under the Scheme.

Additional schemes for cold storage warehouses

All the above schemes are demand/entrepreneur-driven through commercial ventures. Government assistance is provided based on proposals received from the States/entrepreneur.

Furthermore, to strengthen the country’s agricultural infrastructure, the government has launched the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF) worth Rs. 1.00 lakh crore. Under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF), collateral-free term loans of up to Rs. 2.00 crore are available. Moreover, it is available with a 3% interest subvention on the term loan. This loan is for establishing post-harvest infrastructure, such as cold storage warehouses.

Summer special trains duration extended
Summer special trains passing from Kota have been extended the duration. It is a big relief for train passengers going home during the festive season. To clear the extra passenger rush, the railway administration has extended the duration of 6 pairs of summer special trains operating through Kota.

Senior DCM of Kota Railway Division, Rohit Malviya said that as per the earlier notification, the summer special trains were to be operated till July 31 only. Now the date has been extended looking to the festive season ahead.

Manu Bhaker won the first medal for Bharat in Paris Olympics

Manu Bhaker won the first medal for Bharat in the Paris Olympics. She has won the bronze medal in women’s 10-meter air pistol shooting, ending India’s 12-year medal drought in Olympic shooting. This is also Bharat’s first medal, and we hope more medals in the Paris Olympics. Moreover, she becomes the 1st woman to win a medal in shooting for India.

Manu Bhaker had qualified for the final in this event on 27 July. On Sunday, she scored 221.7 points in the final match. The gold and silver medals of this event went to Korea. Korean player Oh Ye Jin won the gold medal with 243.2 points. Korea’s second player Kim Yeji managed to win the silver medal with 241.3 points.

At the age of 19, Manu Bhaker participated in the Tokyo Olympics. Although she remained empty-handed there. Moreover, India’s overall performance in shooting in the Tokyo Olympics was also poor. But she made a brilliant comeback in the Paris Olympics and won the bronze medal. This is also India’s first medal in women’s shooting. Even as a teenager, Manu Bhaker quickly rose through the ranks to become India’s latest shooting star.

Manu Bhaker was born in Jhajjar, Haryana, a state known for its boxers and wrestlers. She was involved in various sports like tennis, skating, and boxing during her school days. Additionally, she excelled in a form of martial arts called ‘thang ta’ and won medals at the national level.

At the age of 14, right after the conclusion of the 2016 Rio Olympics, she impulsively ventured into the world of shooting and found love for the sport. Notably, within a week of her newfound passion, Manu asked her father to acquire a sports shooting pistol for her to further develop her skills.

Her ever-supportive father, Ram Kishan Bhaker, bought her a gun. This decision made Manu Bhaker an Olympian.

At the 2017 national shooting championships, Manu stunned Olympian and former world No. 1 Heena Sidhu by shooting a record score of 242.3 to erase Sidhu’s mark and win the 10m Air Pistol final.

She then added a silver medal at the 2017 Asian Junior Championships and the following year, Manu announced her arrival on a big stage in style.
